…As members have begun to submit their entries for this year’s Annual Competition, we have made some tweaks to the process on our end.
Your entry forms – the image created from your activity report – are now uploading to a form which will email the file to the TPS.Scorekeeper account. The form was also configured to accept JPG, JPEG and PDF file types.
You should receive a copy of this email just as it is sent to the TPS.Scorekeepter account.
This change was made to improve reliability and reduce hassles.
The address where these files are uploaded to has been changed to simplify it’s name. This should have no affect to you.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dave Scott through the contact form, or by phone (253) 394-1599.
April marks the end of the Tacoma Photographic Society’s Competition Year. It’s time to look back at our Division Entries for each month since May of last year to select our best images to submit to compete in the Annual Competitions.
Any work entered in Division competition during the applicable competition year shall be eligible, but may be entered only once in annual competition.
Bylaws of the Tacoma Photographic Society – Article 12, Section 6 c
Below are the rules and method of entry into the 2019 Annual Competition.
To be eligible, an image must have been submitted to a Division Competition during the period from May, 2018 through April, 2019.
Assigned Topic, or Theme, is a Society level competition. Images which also competed in the division competition during the year may be entered into Annual Competition. Images which were only entered to Theme are not eligible for Annual Competition.
Members are invited to make minor changes to their work which may incorporate advice provided during the critique of that image or may be changes the maker thinks will enhance it.
Members should not make substantial changes to their images.
Members may enter as many as 10 digital images to the Projection Division Annual Competition.
Members may enter as many as 10 prints to the Print Division Annual Competition.
Depending upon the number of entries, there will be two groups in each division. Grouping is determined by the average judges scores of all of the individual’s entries.
If you entered 12 images to division competition, and 3 images to the annual competition, the average judges score of the 12 images will be used to determine the group your 3 images will compete in.
The number of members entering and the number of entries shall both be considered when determining the grouping distribution.
As stipulated in the Society By-Laws, your entries will be judged by a panel of at least 3 judges. None of these judges will be Society Members.
In each group, in each Division, the Judges will determine:
There will be no ties.
For each Division, the judges will select at least one, and no more than 7 images worthy of being awarded a Citation Award which best represents these categories
Projection
In each Division, Projection or Print, the Judges will select images from the pool of Division Winners created by combining groups in that Division.
If you make a change, you may upload the changed file. It will generate the email and replace the previous file.
The process for submitting modified images is basicly the same as for your entry form. The differences are that you must use the following file naming convention:
Maker_Image-Title_ACPoints
You may upload 1 or multiple files to this form. Images with the same name will be replaced, so the last one submitted will be used.
You may drag and drop the JPG image onto the form, or press SELECT FILE and search for it using File Explorer or Finder. Then press UPLOAD FILE. On success, an email will be sent to you and Dave Scott containing a copy of the file. A copy will also be saved to this website.
If you make a change, you may upload the changed file. It will generate the email and replace the previous file.
All entries must be in the hands of Dave Scott by 9:30 pm, April 18th. This is the date of the April Print Meeting.
Spring Fair – Prints on display at the Spring Fair can be collected at the close of the fair on Sunday, April 14th. Please make sure your print clearly states that it should be given over to Dave Scott for Annual Competition.
Late Entries / Exceptions – I have allowed this in the past – results were a disaster – NO LATE ENTRIES – NO EXCEPTIONS
As usual, winners will be announced at the Annual Awards Banquet on May 18th.
